Fall Semester of the 2024 Books of Titans Reading List
Fall Semester begins today and runs through the end of November.
Fall semester of my reading project begins today. Here’s what I’ll be reading from now until the end of November from bottom to top:
Starting with a reread of Sophocles four other plays and then checking out fragments of his lost works.
After that, I’ll read Babrius and Phaedrus, which apparently is the more legit version of Aesop’s Fables. I was disappointed in the version of Aesop I read earlier this year and was told to read this instead.
Then, I’ll finish Thucydides, which I started in spring semester but did not finish.
After that, onto the final Greek tragedy playwright, Euripides.
I’ll close out the tragedies with a translation of one play each by Anne Carson, covering Aeschylus, Sophocles, and Euripides.
I’ll then lighten things up with the comedy plays of Aristophanes.
I’ll close out fall semester with the historical works of Xenophon.
This will then set up 2025 to dig deep into Plato and Aristotle.
